in the middle of an overhaul and me being me I bought a bunch of
parts b4 I knew what I had I bought a master overhaul kit from
yesterday and I got the 4 ring piston and after reading forms I should
have went with 3 ringer. Any way my question is can I just put the
three rings on like a normal 3 ringer and just leave off the forth ring
on the bottom??

Much ado over very little. Use them as designed and don't worry. Four ring pistons were original fitment in the N series and have been used successfully in tens of thousands of engines of all makes and models.

Ford1.........make a "spool" outta 2-pieces of semi-round wood to fit INSIDE yer sleeve and a 12" length of 1/2" all thread and 4 matching nuts. Then gitt some DRY-ICE chips from grocery store or other seller (look in yellow pages) The -130* dry ice will shrink yer sleeves and now just install yer sleeve inna yer block. Unbolt yer bottom wood piece and catch the chips of dry-ice inna bucket and repeat fer yer next sleeve. When the dry-ice falls outta yer sleeve, the sleeve will naturally expand to fit yer block cylinder hole. NO HAMMERING or POUNDING required. Just wear gloves to protect yer hands from dry-ice burns. Simple, eh?.........the amazed Dell
