Farmall BN steering casting repair

The bolster that holds the pedestal to the front of the engine
simply unbolts from the front of the engine. There are even
holes in it so you can use a socket and a long extension.
I am making an assumption here on what broke.
That doesn't happen often but also not uncommon.

Obviously you have to take the sheet metal off to get to it.
That's not a big job though.
The tractor needs to be cribbed up so the tires are slightly
off the ground. Make sure it is setting solidly on that cribbing.
Block the rear tires front and back too.

Unless you have a very trusted welding shop, I would replace
it with a good used one. They're not too hard to find.

Here's mine...

Thanks for the information. I am in Ontario, and am having trouble finding a good used bolster. Do you know of any in your area? I could take a drive down if you have any good contacts. Thanks again for the directions. It came off fairly easily. Looked into having it welded, but it is actually in 2 pieces, better to find a good used one.
