8N front mount electronic ignition conversion kit?

Looking at the kits available for a front mount 12 volt negative ground electronic ignition conversion, the photo with the item for sale shows a regular round coil and a coil wire. Is that the way they come? Thanks!

hat is one kit (the better one), but they also make one using the old distributor mounted square coil.

Dan.......so yer gonna squander $150 to keep from changin' a $20 set of points once a year on the kitchen table? I'm NOT anti-electronic ignition. I stick built one in 1963 fer my 1956 Dodge D-500 V-8. (cousin to the MIGHTY Chrysler 300) Yeah, tryin' to change points (0.015) onna front mount is a pain. A good set of Blue-Points from NAPA should last ya 10-yrs. Condensers seldom wear out but they are so mysterious, everybody changes them just to be safe. Me? Iff'n the points (0.015) are still in the dizzy, I'd stick the corner of $1-bill (cheap) between the points and pull. .........HTH, the amazed Dell

And that's Dell's stock answer for this subject. I've converted both of my front mount 8N's and my Farmall M to EI and love it. I'm looking into the coil conversion but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Last set of them good Blue Points from Napa were defective right out the box. IMO EI is the way to go. When I do mechanic work for others I charge 60 an hour. So that 20 buck point job just cost 80 in my book. And at the end of the 2nd year after you pull the dizzy to check the gap yer now into 140.....I haven't had a dizzy off any of the 3 in over a year. The one is going on 3 years now!
