8n hydraulic pump issues

I bought all of the parts to rebuild my hydraulic pump from YT. The valve chambers are very well machined, but they are universal fit, that is, they will fit either side depending on where removable plugs are installed. The issue is that they are too thick and won't go up into the tractor. I called YT, and that are the only ones they sell. After some side grinder and file work, I got it to clear the bolt hole bosses in the bottom of the tractor. I thought I was in good shape until I discovered that it won't clear the hydraulic stand pipe on the right side, and there is no way to make it fit. The castings of the replacement bodies seem to have random thickness. I was wondering if anyone else had run into this problem. Thanks,
Roland

Ran into similar issues with the pump rebuild kit. Some creative grinding on both ends of the heads and removing the pressure relief valve allowed installation into the tractor (reinstall relief valve before installing PTO shaft -- much easier before than after.) I also realized the interior plugs in the heads were installed for the same side, had to switch plug locations for the other side of the pump. Last thing noted was the boss on the heads were not as thick for some of the head bolt locations that kept the bolt from tightening properly as they bottomed in the hole before pulling tight -- had to install flat washers on a couple bolts.

The good news is the pump works very well now. I do not need 140 wt oil to get the lift to work! Good luck with the project.

Yup, had the same issue here. Had to take an angle grinder to the sides of the valves (and a couple bolt heads, I think) to make it fit. I think it's been discussed a few times over the years. The parts for the rebuild all work really well though, once you grind 'em to fit!

Of course, I'm suffering from a whole new set of hydraulic issues today.. :?
