Rear rim swap

I have a 9N with a rusted out rear rim that need replaced. I have an 8N parts tractor. The 8N has hat rims and the 9N loop rims. Can they be interchanged?
Any other advice about this?

Yes they can be swapped out as long as they are both 28" rims
BTW center disc won't switch, I know kind of obvious

I have an original pair of 28" hat rims with 8N center discs all restored -WILL SELL WITH 9N CENTER DISCS IF REQUESTED. -email open...if you have a set of original 9N loop rims, NOT the aftermarket loop rims, maybe can trade?? As Kirk said, 9N/2N and 8N
center discs do not swap out -the bolt hole pattern is different.

Nice looking wheels. However, I don't need centers and apparently have most of what I need at hand. I will know more when tires come off. I will still have centers on the parts machine.
Not that I am am closed to offers.
Thanks for your response.

If the hat rims are not all rusted out from Calcium Chloride -you need to get tires off and inspect the inner bands -then you can use them and mount your 9N center discs on them easy enough. Check for liquid filled tires first by rotating tire so valve stem is on bottom, then press valve stem. If pressed and liquid comes out there's your answer. I'd check the hat rims first for condition before swapping out...

You might want to take all four wheels and tires to your local AG tire center and let them inspect and advise. They have the proper equipment and support staff. It's nice to have the original hat rims but if they are too far decomposed, not worth the hassle. Get tires off, inspect hats and aftermarkets and use the best two. If tires are loaded with Ca Chl they can remove it properly but be aware that if so, you will want new tubes -never r e-use old tubes when replacing the liquid with beet juice or other substance. If the hat rims show signs of corrosion around the valve stems, that is a good indication you have Ca Chl contamination. Let me know if what you meant by 9N 6-loop rims if they are the early original 9N loop rim are just later aftermarket styles...I need a set of the early 9N originals...

This is the early 9N original ?LOOP? style rear rim. Speculation is they were used on the first 700-800 units only until the hat rim stamping dies were online. The loops were made of cast iron and riveted on. 5/8-18 hex head bolts fastened the center discs to the wheels. Oftentimes when fellas talk about loop rims they are referring to the newer aftermarket 6-loop style that are sold nowadays. Originals are scarce as hens teeth and highly prized by early 9N collectors and restorers.

Hi Tim,

Not sure if I can private message or get folks' email addresses yet I just joined, but I may be interested in your 8N rims. How much are you asking for them?

Thanks,
Nick

I saw your pics of the hat rims and I was wondering what they should be worth in the condition you show. I did a lot of horse trading and ended up with rims and centers and I do not need them. Thanks
