9n 3pt tiller ?

Iv found a 9n for sale with a sherman low range gear reduction in it. Would they run slow enough to use a 3pt tiller? Thanks

It will slow BOTH the ground and PTIO speed down. Slower tractor but a tiller that is not spinning at the proper speed. That's why you really want a Howard....

In some parts of the country this is called a tiller, other places it is call an orchard plow. If you can find one it will work well with a 9/2/8N.

this comes up every year, now there are a few members on here that can make a N tractor work a tiller, depending of what kind of ground they have, but for the most part a N is much too fast for a rototiller, remember when ford made the N no such thing existed, the general consensus is that unless you have one of the ultra rare [and ultra fragile] howard after tranny reduction units, you get much better results with a disk, or spring tooth like pictured, then a harrow, of some sort, it can even be a piece of chain link fence with a rr tie on it

I work my garden plot using a 2 bottom plow followed by discing once the trash has died back. So far it's proved to loosen the soil quite well. I have to work with lightly rocky river-valley clay/loam and the combination does it for me. I do have an N with a Howard and a tiller to borrow from my neighbours but I've not seen the need to put it to use.
