I'm in the process of trying to get an old #12 grader going again after sitting or about 6 years. I got it running and three tires fixed but the clutch is slipping. It will slip a while and then catch and run for a few minutes and then stop and slip again till I assume it get heated and catches The pedal has plenty of free play and the transmission brake seems to be working. Just hoping some of you guys may have some experiance with this old Cat grader and can help me keep from having to pull that bit engine to repair the clutch. It will only be used ocassionally and not commercially.

Going to get out there today and try to get the pony engine going again. It is free and turning. Got to check the mag to see if it firing.

Thanks for any help,

Zane

First thing I would do is make sure that there is no oil in the bell housing. If there is no apparent opening scrape around the lowest part with your pocket knife.

I will do that but looking in the inspection plate opening I see no sign of oil on the pressure plate or throw out bearing etc.

I've run into another problem now. I have the pony engine running but the drive gear lever won't engage the gear. Like it is stuck somehow. Hard to
move the lever and seems to be against something solid and drive won't turn.
