Doing some misc. repairs on an 8N, including a loose crank pulley. The bolt (or whatever you want to call that slotted b*****d that holds the pulley on) was tight, but the pulley had a
lot of play. When I got the pulley off, the keyway slot on the pulley was wallowed out a bit. Pulled the timing cover off to check things over and the keyway sticks out not even a
quarter of an inch past the oil slinger. Does this imply that a some point the tractor was run with the pulley loose? Honestly, with no more than that keeping the pulley lined up, I
can't imagine how it would NOT eventually get worn out to the point that it wobbles.
