penetrating oils

Before I remove the hood of my 8n I would like to ease the loosening of the nuts and bolts. Some of you have favorite products. Open to suggestions.

what I use: Kroil.
they sell it at my local napa store

best stuff I have found.

sometimes you need to give it time to work and maybe bang around on the nut/bolt a bit to allow it to penetrate into the rust area, but most times it works.

the acetone/automatic trans fluid solution might be a little better, but the acetone is so flammable its hard to deal with or it will flash off in short order, never having surface time to do its work.

I have and use both Kroil and pb blaster. they both work good but I like the smell of Kroil better. When using any pentrent , time is your foried. give it time to work. don't get in a hurry.

I've had good results with Free-All. People have different preferences, some use their own concoctions to get the same results. This stuff has surprised me a few times, as I used to think most of these penetrants were more or less, snake oil. The dilemma is to get it to wick in to the seized or bonded area. Soak and wait, use heat and impact where you can, often times the results are good. Free-All reminds me of Kroil or older liquid wrench, they reek of solvent and volatile organic compounds.
Free All by Gasoila

None of them do anything unless the bolt is vertical so the stuff can possibly migrate down

(quoted from post at 16:10:29 09/14/16) heat it up and melt some wax on it,

Thanks to all for suggestions. Sounds like multiple applications, vibration, a little heat and patience are in order.

I don't recall the name now but ZEP used to make one that was far and away better than anything else IMO and experience. It was real costly though. gm
