The battery in my 1946 2N is three years old. I've never had to jump start it under normal conditions which tells me the 6 volt generator is charging it, but the ammeter always sits on "0" . How can I find out if it's charging if any or is the meter no working? Is there a tester I can buy without breaking the bank, and how would I go about testing it?

Turn the lights on when it's not running.
Does the ammeter read discharge?

Is it 6V? If so you can see the ammeter deflect as the points
open and close while rolling it over unless it starts too quickly.

You can use a standard voltmeter (VOM) connected between
the battery terminals to check voltage when it is not running
and compare it to when it is running.

Probably many other ways I've forgotten.

Thanks for the advise guy.
