Leaking from the test port

My 8n is leaking from the test port. this leak developed a good while after installing my live hydraulics setup. I noticed a leak and then tightened the fitting down with a wrench but it came back with a vengeance. I guess this is what screwed up the fitting.

I took the sae 5 fitting out to find the hydraulic pump deformed in a perfect circle and the o ring split in two. In there any fix or should I just swap in the hydraulic pump from my basket case 8n?

Probably cracked from overtightening--tightening more probably spread the crack and made it
worse..swap out is probably the best way to go if the other pump is known to be good..Just
my opinion and everybody has one...

A pix would be nice,,, TOH should come along and help you with your issue,,, Its his gig with those fittings and he's damm good at it... Unlike OEM with a bolt and washer your setup is a different animal tho it will suffer from the same issues from the bolt and washer as OEM if its cracked are deformed...

Don't jump off the cliff prematurely. It's not uncommon for the port to have an impression from the OEM sealing washer. I assume you were tightening the lock nut???? It would take a lot of torque to deform the face of the pump that way. If the threads are not damaged I would try a new o-ring and less torque. It just needs to be a bit more than hand tight to keep the fitting in place and lightly compress the o-ring against the face of the port. It's not a "real" SAE port with a counter-bore for the o-ring so if you overtighten the lock nut you will tear the o-ring. Also tie down the hose to keep it from flopping about and causing the fitting to loosen. That may be what caused your initial leak.

If that doesn't work and the face of the pot is uneven/rough you might want to dress it with a file and/or put a slight chamfer/counterbore on the top edge of the hole with a countersink. But be careful and don't get carried away with the cutting tools.

I think you are correct toh. The hose moving caused the original leak.

I was able to stop the leak. I put a new o-ring, a washer and then another o-ring on the sae5 to jic fitting and installed it in the test port. Without the washer, the fitting would not get tight at all.

I'm guessing this will just be a temporary fix but at least I can get back to work while I wait on gaskets to come in to overhaul the other pump I have.
