Brought home a 1949 8N. Having fun going over everything. I thought the crank handle was froze up, but when I disconnected it, the handle worked just fine. Thanks for any info, I did try searching but didn't get anywhere.
Here's my question: If I turn the tube with the vice grips on it, will threads unscrew from the part it goes into? Is it normal direction threads? When it functions normally on the tractor, when I crank the handle, I should see threads as it lengthens, right?
Looks like it has dried up grease in it, so I'm hoping it is just frozen at the top. But before I start cranking on it, I wanted to make sure I understood how it worked.
Picture went sideways on me.......
