Replacing ring gear on flywheel, what else while in there?

My 8n tractors ring gear is bad and ruining starter drives. So i got one ordered and am going to split the tractor and replace it. Of course while in there im going to replace the clutch,pressure plate and throw out bearing. Anything else a guy should replace while in there? Thanks in advance

See tip # 59 before you put it back
together.

Also replace the pilot bearing and
transmission seal.

Use the main shaft as the clutch alignment
tool. And don't put the disc in backwards.

Yeah pilot bearing comes with the clutch kit. I will pickup a seal to. thanks

You might check the condition of the pilot bearing (as well as replacing it) if it is frozen (like mine was) the input mainshaft might be worn excessively where it pilots in the bearing. It is not that difficult to replace.

A couple 9N7086 gaskets, depending on how you split it you may need a couple 9N9652 hoses. About all I have ever done needed a new screw kit for the Air Cleaner Funnel To Hood

Replace the pilot bearing as well. I also replaced the input shaft seal going to the transmission.
