8N diesel- A little funny

Just thought you guys would get a little laugh at this. My Granddaughter is the FFA president at our school. She and the VO AG instructor were talking about the auction I'm doing this coming Saturday. He asked her what tractors were in it and she, not having looked at the auction add told him that I have an 8N Diesel (actually an 860 gas). He told her that that 8N should bring a good price cause he hadn't seen any factory 8N diesels. He was nice about it & didn't try to correct her Just told her to tell me so I could get a chuckle out of it. He's had her in his class for 3 years and knows she doesn't do anything much in the shop. Couple of years ago, some one was trying to sell an old Ford that had been fitted with the distillate manifold and tanks. I didn't get to hear it run, but it was hilarious listening to different people explain how it works. It was compared to Oilpulls, cracking towers at a refinery, and even a meth lab.

If you'd like, you could get a laugh on the teacher.

There was an 8NAN

That's a kerosene machine.

I'm SURE it would run on diesel...

Nope, it was a 9N, I remember that. I think it was owned by a Canadian fellow. That's a neat looking 8N. Has a Ferguson system badge on it. When did they drop that?

1st time I've ever seen a Dexta diesel bolted to an 8N or any N. I ask myself, how much trouble was that to do. When the Dexta came out in 1957 it was described and an 8N on Steroids. In addition to a 2N, a 640, a 5000 I have a Dexta. A stout and thrifty little tractor. Thanks for the photo and now I know that it has been done.

Oh, my old eyes... upon closer look at the photo, itsa Dexta painted red w/a 8N hood n grill. give-away is the clutch pedal, pto lever & shift tower.
