7/8" spark plug socket

I went into Napa today to buy a 7/8" spark plug socket. My Massey Ferguson 202 takes Autolite 386 plugs which are 7/8"

The guy looked at me like I was nuts when I asked for a 7/8" spark plug socket. I got my plugs at TSC but Napa even had the 386 plugs so why didn't they sell a 7/8" socket? No place else in Hemet had one either.

I have a 7/8" deep socket that works but I wanted a regular spark plug socket that has the rubber in it. :roll:
 
I have at least five different sizes of spark plug sockets.
None are 7/8 though. I've never looked for one.
The plugs in my Farmall tractors are 7/8 like yours.
So, my guess is that maybe the applications that use 7/8
plugs are accessible enough that there is little demand for
the spark plug socket in that size. Just a WAG though.
 
I use a crescent 7/8" socket LSD1228. Deep socket
Works very well for my 7/8" plugs

I guess you could insert a short piece of rubber hose up into the socket to hold the plugs if they are falling out on you,

As I said, I went to Napa and they didn't have one.

Yeah...I did see one on Amazon. $26.00 for one socket, I don't think so. :shock: :shock:
 
i had never heard of this size till now. and ya, they ain't cheap. cheapest one i found was 21. saw another for 35.
 
I have seven spark plug sockets two of which are 7/8.

one made by New Britain the other by Craftsman. neither have the rubber insert.

I have a deep socket that works. It's made by Husky. I don't remember where I got it.
