Ran when parked. For real!

I'm working on this tractor for a friend. No, it's not an N, sorry.
My question is, when do you think it was parked?
Their best guess is 15 years ago.
It was their Dad's tractor and it's been so long they don't remember.
BTW, the carb looked just like this inside. So does the gas tank.
I rebuilt the carb and it runs now, on my temporary tank.
It runs amazingly well. A sticky governor but no smoke.

I helped my cousin bring her late dad's 8N back to running condition. It had goo in the sediment bowl like your picture shows. The metal fuel line was completely blocked with the hardened stuff. Her dad had passed some 20 + years past.

It was her favorite tractor as a girl - she was happy to have it again to use. That is one fine running tractor.

I always get a chuckle when someone says, " it ran when I parked it there". When I bought my 2N the owner said the same thing. He wanted $1800 for it, all he said it needed was gas and a battery and he said it would start right up. Well it didn't start so I ended up giving him $1200 instead.

Old Farmall M's are tough old tractors. Back in the late 90's
There was an estate auction for an old farmer. He had a Farmall M
That belonged to his father. The tractor had not ran in decades.
The workers getting ready for the auction decided to try starting
it. They filled it with gas and water. Pulled it about ten feet
and it started.

On the auction it sold for $950.00. Only the local people knew it
had been parked since the early 60's.

Must have had better gas back in the 60's.
