Exhaust Manifold Gasket Installation Question

I am replacing the exhaust manifold on my 1952 8N and am ready to put the gaskets on. Do I need to put a gasket sealer material such as Permatex Ultra Copper max temp gasket maker on the gaskets or not? It is a new aftermarket manifold from YT and I have used ThermoSteel on the block to smooth out any pitting. And if I do need the gasket maker material, do I apply it to both sides of the gaskets? Thanks for your help.

i replaced my manifold a couple of years ago, and used no sealant. so far, so good.

I replaced my 48 8n manifold last month and gooped both sides
also re torqued after some use time (when cooled)
no leaks or regerts ... 8)

Use the hi-temp Permatex on both sides of the gasket. You've got intake ports there as well. And don't forget to re-torque it after it cools; start on the inside nuts & work out.

I've done it both ways with success but I normally use high
temp sealant on both sides as was mentioned.
Just don't get carried away with it. You don't need a 1/4 inch
bead of it. All you really need is a smear coating on each side.
