Oil check value

Changed oil today cleaning oil lines just under the oil canister I took the fitting off it looked like it had a small round check valve any way I lost it can I still run tractor without it

here are hundreds of tractor models. What is yours?
 
In reference to the parts catalog drawing below where did you find the "check valve"?

interesting. mine has a drain plug, and we've decided it's not the right one for a 47 2N. so that sounds like it must be from an earlier model, up till now i'd been thinking later.

bout 8 years ago, Bruce VA said they didn't stop the drain until SN 269,530. Later than I thought. :oops:
 
I thought it was below oil canister #16 in throttling now I'm not sure it was a round type valve or possibly a oil bubble eyes not as good as they use to be
 
My early 8N has a drain. Here is a picture from a 1949 Parts manual showing the drain plug but no check valve.
