Lesson learned the hard way!!!

I,was moving hay to the horses today. While exiting the gate the horses came running around the corner of the barn towards the gate so I did a stupid thing. Hurrying to get off my 2N I thought I took it out of gear. Jumping from the tractor to close the gate before they got out ,the tractor wasn't completely out of gear and trapped me under the left tire running over my left leg and continuing on its way. I jumped to my feet and turned of the ignition before realizing how bad my leg hurt and seen blood dripping on my glasses from a cut on my forehead . I don't need anyone one give me a lecture to know that I did wrong. From this day forward I will come to a complete stop and shut off the engine before getting off my tractor. God was looking down on me today...

Yes, I think God gives most of us at least one break. Hopefully to learn. Case in point: Don't jump off a SOS tractor after putting it in park until it stops moving. A 14.9X28 on the left foot don't feel so good.

Wow, glad you are still among the living. Did it break your leg or bruise it up severely? That is one of my worst nightmares to be run over by my own tractor. Hope you are healing ok.

Glad to hear you escaped relatively unscathed.

The few times I've gotten off mine and left it running, I keep my eye on the beast like it is a rattlesnake ready to strike. :D

I get off mine many times running and I think about not bumping the gear shift lever. Your story will make me safer. Glad your ok.

Yep, ran over my foot and beat myself up a bit when I jumped out of a tonner Chevy with it still in reverse a year ago.

$hit happens, even to the ones of us who try to be careful. I just wasn't your day to die (or mine)!

I did the truck thing years ago when I stopped to get the mail and didn't get the gearshift fully in park as I exited the door. The smart thing to do would have been to let the truck go backwards over the hill but my reflexive action was to try and get back in to stop it. So the truck went over the hill AFTER it went over me ;-) I wound up with a nasty contusion on my right calf that had to be drained several times but otherwise unscathed. A $100 winch out and no significant damage to the truck. Word to the wise - let them go.....
