We have had pellet stoves since 1994, about the time they first
came out. Our first was a Whitfield, which we had for about four
years before trading it for a Harman P68. The Harman is worlds
better, uses a thermostat, and heats the whole house better.
They will need some maintainence however. This past winter
I had to replace the fan motor. There is no creosote as with wood, and depending on the quality of the pellets about
half as much ash. I use 4 to 6 tons a year and last year a ton of
quality pellets was selling for around $240. Hope this helps!

since we have an "all electric" house we have considered alternate ways to heat. from nov 2015 to mar 2016 our elec. usage totaled 1419.31. how does that compare to your pellet usage for the same period of time.

email is open.

thanks

In 2001 we bought an American Energy magnum multi fuel stove, mainly to burn corn. But when corn prices went so high I burned wood pellets for several years. Now that corn is cheaper again I burn corn. I like the multi fuel option but I give up some options like the electronic ignition that a lot of wood pellet stoves have. In our household it is not a option not to use it, my daughters and wife just love sitting in front of it, as I do.
