trying to remove hydro. pump 8n

I have removed the pto. shaft and both round side covers and raised the top cover about 5/8 in. I have all the bolts out and the pump will come down about 1/2 in. I can wiggle it side to side and forward and back but it won't drop out. I remember having a real hard time putting one in about 10yrs ago on a different 8n, it was like tipping and holding it just right. The other problem I have is getting the pin out of the top link spring yoke so that I can fully remove the top cover assembly. I have tried heating the yoke with a torch until red and driving on the pin with a punch and also an air hammer. Is the fact that I don't have the top cover all the way off yet causing my problem with pump removal. I don't remember anything on the top cover that would cause a problem other than the control arm and that is up and out of the pocket. Thanks for any help.

Yea the pump is out I walked away from it for a few minutes and remembered that the control arm quadrant was full up so I wondered if that could prevent the pump from moving rearward. I put the quadrant full down and wiggled the pump rearward and out. So one problem solved now to get the top cover off. Any comments on how to get the pin out of the top link spring yoke other than heat, penetrating oil,a punch and hammer and persistence. I have even considered drilling it out as last resort.

When I did mine, I had trouble with a different pin and ended up drilling it. You do what you have to do to get things apart. Just be careful not to damage the parts the pins hold together.

I got the pin out finally pb blaster and a big hammer and didn't worry about mushrooming the pin I used a die grinder and a carbide bur to remove the mushroom once I got it moving back and forth a few times then drove it thru with a large punch. Thanks for responding. By the way I found a broken dip stick at the bottom of the pump along with a lot of sludge.

Mine had so much sludge that the control valve would not move. cleaned everything up, straightened the long control rod and it worked fine.
