Molded vs plain lower radiator hose

Can anyone explain to me what the difference between the molded 8N8286 lower radiator hose and the plain/smooth one? A lot of vendors seem to say
the molded one fits all, but others say it's only for the 50-52 8ns. nnalert says its for use with the 8n501 but doesn't say what that a 8n501 is.

I'm curious because it looks like it might give a little more clearance for a live hydraulic setup, assuming it would fit the earlier machines.

I believe the molded one is for the side mount dist.with the genny on the lefty side so as to clear the fan belt. but it can be used on early front mounts as well. If I am wrong some one will chime in.

I am no expert but based on personal experience the molded hose makes some turns and stays where needed on the later model tractors in a way that the "plain rubber hose" can't. It will work just fine on early model tractors.

Both hoses are molded. The hose for the side mount distributor has an extra bend. A lot of parts houses only carry the late 8n hose because it will also fit the front mount tractors.

I have the late 8n hose on my 1940 9n.
