When I got my 8N about ten years ago, I put a new proof meter on it right away among other things.

For the first time in those ten years, I looked at the hour meter on it. It was at 207 hours. I would have thought more but I guess I'd be wrong. :mrgreen:

I know the tach hand works but I couldn't say that I saw the hour meter actually move. I'll have to watch it next time I use it.
 
the lower your operating rpm, the lower the "hours" registered. One clock hour at 1000rpm will register less than one clock hour at 2200 rpm.
 
Keep in mind that it only registers hours "accurately" at speed.
If you spend a lot of time idling it will read less hours than it actually ran.
