12 volt and 6 volt same time

Has anyone ever added a 12 volt battery to run just the 6 volt starter and left everything else 6 volt, which would allow full 6 volt to 6 volt coil. (9N front mount) The 12 volt battery would be charged by a battery charger as needed

The OEM ballast resistor has .03 ohms of resistance when it's cold.

If that is a concern, simply wire a toggle switch into the circuit to bypass the resistor.

IIRC, the old Plymouth's had that feature on the ignition switch.

I had one of those 6/12 batteries in my 1947 Chevy in 1965. It had nothing to do w/ coil voltage & everything to do w/ spinning a worn out engine fast enough to start!

Why, you could even have a battery rack on the fender!!! What a mess! 6 volts coils never get 6 volts anyway...
