3-Point left Lift Rod ?

Cleaning up my 3-pt arms and rods and have a question.

Is the upper yoke on the left side lift rod supposed to be square to the shaft or offset?

I've straightened out one bent in the straight section so far.

Thanks,
T

As it is now, cocked over to the left.

Also I'm assuming that this fork needs to be squared to the shaft:

I got two 8n's and one is straight and the other is bent. No reason for them to anything other than straight in my mind.

Right.

Well I straightened out the waves in the bar and the bend that put the wide yoke end off to the side.

I gave it a bit of a twist so that if there was a pin in each end, the pins would be at right angles to each other. The pins are about 5 to 10 degrees off of being at perfect right angles but it probably doesn't matter. I see some side wear on the lower link mount point so it definitely needed "some" straightening.

Thanks much,
Terry

You've got it backwards, the bottom in your pics should be vertical and the top portion should be horizontal..... :)

Looks like a good straightening job Terry. How did the bores look? Mine are all egged out.

Gears,

That's a good one! :D

Pins aren't sloppy in the bores so that's a bonus.

To move the big yoke sideways I put a tight long pin through with a pipe on the end and heated. To straighten the small fork I put a big C clamp on it, heated the offending arm red where it needed to be bent and squeezed as I heated. Over did it by a hair but what the hey.

Correction: on this forum that would be " hay". :)

Thanks,
Terry

I figured out why the left lift rod has a slight offset (twist) that leaves the two ends not quite perpendicular to each other.
The lower link arm at angles outward to the point where the lift rod connects, so the lower lift rod fork is turned a little to accept it. On the leveler box side that offset happens naturally.

I hope nobody took my dumb "hay" joke the wrong way.
I have the utmost admiration and respect for farmers and am honored to be in such company.

I've always liked this Biblical advice:
[b:6c20734d4d]"Do not shirk wearisome labor,
or farm work which the Most High created."[/b:6c20734d4d]

Terry, didja here they're talking about banning round hay bales?

They're afraid cattle aren't getting "square" meals....... :)
