Something other then a sediment bowl

I was just wondering if anyone has a good picture of a alternative way other then a sediment bowl. I've about had it with them leaking. I've tried everything as far as different gaskets, trimming the screen,no screen, you name it with no success.. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so the rubber line with plastic fuel filter I often see is NOT going to happen with me. Unsafe and ugly. I was hoping to find a nice brass shut off valve with a metal inline fuel filter (with AN fittings)found on street rods and such for a nice clean look. I know I'd loose the reserve but I'll just have to double check that I have enough gas when far away from home.

There are metal fuel filters that will work. I can't remember
what they came on for sure but I think it was Ford trucks.
They're not very big and do not have hose fittings on them,
so not like the ones on my old Dodge pickups or my '79 Ford.

As far as the valve, several options out there.
If you have converted to 12V, maybe an electric one that
shuts off when you shut the key off so you don't forget.

I don't have any pictures to offer unfortunately, mine all have
sediment bowls on them. Sometimes I have fixed them by
taking them off and cleaning all the old gasket material out,
sometimes they are warped from over tightening, sometimes
they were just cheaply made parts to begin with and didn't seal.

I'm just dealing with new junk Im
affraid. Have several other tractors
with bowls that are probably 40 or more
years and never have a issue. It's the
world we live in these days.

Yep.

Just about every 8N I've owned came with some half-azzed after market sediment bowl. Rather than fix a leak on an OEM bowl, it was easier to buy some off-shore POS and put it on the tractor. Which not only leaked, they are impossible to repair.

I rebuilt the OEM bowl on the left; it works fine.

I got all the replacements from nnalert's.

I hav3e no problems with a couple of bowls I got from YT. If you do away with the reserve, you will be drawing fuel off the bottom and you may create more problems that you now have.
Mine don't leak.

Unfortunately there was a cheap replacement on it when I got it. Had a plastic bowl that had some kind of sealant on it from a previous owner. I got the new one from nnalert (there all the same no matter where you get them) and it actually worked for a month before it started to leak around the bowl...

I used a large o-ring instead of the cork gasket. Still working maybe 10 years later. Gotta get one the right diameter to fit the base for the glass.

(quoted from post at 12:00:17 07/20/16) That would be great but its 1/2 inch
inlet. Too big

LOL , you are right , plan B I guess . I am not a fan of the original style shut off valves . I would like to turn a large handle 90 degrees but I would also like a filter sticking into the tank . I guess I could make something but I was looking for an easy way out .

I did this on a 2N and I liked being able to see if there was or was not any fuel while in the seat . Screwing in the little valve on the original is just a pain for me to bend over and get a visual . But the valve does need to be closer to the tank . ( the filter is not installed in this pic )
