OT flathead for sale

If I was a tractor shower I would probably have a looksee. Don't really know much about them other then I think their cool.

I think it is on the high side, price wise - maybe he is fishing for a offer..?

I always thought the hood needed to be extended to fit the V8 engine. This one appears to use the original hood. Does anyone know were there adaptor made that did not need a longer hood?

That's a V8 60. It's considerably smaller than the more common V8 90/100/110, etc.

sounds like the perfect candidate for a funk job then :)

I realy like the looks of that tractor,Looks so much nicer than the ones with the raised hood. If it were near by I would want it. Thanks for posting.

"Who here would not like to have 35 more HP
to get you thru the hard stuff..."

I'd want that extra 35hp to be running
through a more capable drive train. Those
conversions always remind me of that quip
about an alligator mouth and a mockingbird
a$$.

its ok, not so radical that its going to shell out the drive train if used with discretion , but with any of these conversions, the operator has to remember he has 60 hp on a tractor where the whole rest of it is designed for half that, power has to be added slowly and just enough to do the job, at about 3/4 throttle under full load its time for a bigger tractor and if you are at idle, and slam the throttle full open and dump the clutch, parts are going to fly

I could be wrong, but the HP is rated differently on cars and trucks, when they put the 9n engine in the 40 ford truck they rated it as 40 HP.

that hot rod ad makes me wonder so many can't identify these things correctly on craigslist. 1948? with I-beam radius rods and big hub front wheels?

The V8 engines, 60 HP or otherwise, were rated at higher RPM for automotive use, rendering them only marginally useful for tractor applications.

The V8 60 is not much larger than the 120 CI 9/2/8N engine. I doubt that it makes more torque at 1,800 RPM than does the N engine, perhaps less.
