Straightening a breaker plate

I have a 2n and must have a tweaked breaker plate. The shaft is difficult to turn with the breaker place in and the clip on. If I take the clip off it turns better.

What is the best way to bend it back to the original shape?

look at the bushing stand, is it perhaps bent. if it is anything but perpendicular to the plate plane, it will bind the shaft when installed.

If it is bent, how do I straighten it properly? It also looks like one end of the base itself is curved up??? I assume the round base should be perfectly flat???

The breaker plate can be straightened by placing it on an anvil or vice and carefully hitting it with a small ball peen hammer. The bushing holder can be made straight by carefully bending the metal struts holding it in place. You have to be careful not to bend it too much, just enough to move it little by little until you get it right. I had a similar problem when replacing the upper bushing on mine.
