8N steering wheel falls off, happy ending

A couple days ago I posted about how my steering column snapped off right at the steering wheel.

Got a 1/2" unplated fastener (mostly unthreaded) from home depot, and cut a chunk off it.

Local welder was able to effectively use that as a splint between the top of the steering column and the portion of it that broke off (broke off remarkably cleanly).

I apologize for the blurry pic.

Looks lil the steering wormshaft is either bent, or the tubular housing is bent in the box top. Notice how the worm shaft os not setting centered in the inside diameter of the housing.

I have an 8n that had been in a collision, and pushed sheet metal back, bending column tube, pressuring wormshaft, eventually breaking it above the worm.

On mine, I removed the tube and made one from thin wall pipe with just a little turning down on the id to accept the bushing at the steering wheel, and the of where it goes into the cast box top

Thanks, I see what you're saying.
Right now it seems happy, was just out mowing (best time of day to mow in Florida), I LOVE my new steering wheel.

Mine was just like that.

The deflection will break that shaft eventually till you correct the isdue
