Have had this about 15 years. The other day I was mowing, did a fairly hard turn, and the steering wheel started rotating on the shaft. I was able to get it back to its shelter.
When I pulled on it, it popped right off.
I'd been wanting to replace it for a long time, but was put off by reports of difficulties getting the wheel off.
So I got new steering wheel, nut, washer. I was able to remove the threaded keyed insert from the old steering wheel and it fits the new steering wheel fine.
But I don't see what holds the steering wheel on. If I get it tightened down as hard as I can, it works for a while, but then the steering wheel starts to just rotate on the shaft, and pulls off easily.
What am I missing ? Don't want to resort to JBWelding it on.
