Rebuilt Trailer

This trailer was a spring/early summer rebuilding project that started during the maple sugaring season. Finally finished it last week. Started off needing new tires and sides that were about to fall off. Then I discovered that both wheel bearings were in need of replacement> One bearing was actually too large for the spindle. I then decided that I should rebuild the wood deck, which was in poor condition. With the exception of 2- 2"x6"s and 2- 2"x4"s, all of the wood is salvage lumber. The sides are made from 2"x2"s removed during remodeling our 1890 farmhouse. The deck planking is burr oak that was given to me for firewood and the corner braces are 4"6" burr oak timbers from an old clothesline post.

Until I zoomed in on my phone that looked like a casket in that trailer. At that point I wasn't sure why you bothered to rebuild it - the people using it won't mind if it's a little used!

Very cool trailer on big old rims!

I'll that the 2X2's from the old house are really 2" X 2", i.e, "full dimension" as they say.

Unfortunately not full dimension. They were furring strips installed about 10-15 years ago, I understand. They failed to install a vapor barrier, so the mildew was out of control. I actually just finished sanding new plaster that I installed to replace the old plaster that fell away from the brick due to excessive moisture buildup.
