Rear Wheet Studs

I am seeking advise on how to install a rear wheel stud on my 1941 Ford 9N. I was able to heat the wheel(flange) and remove the old stud. The new stud fits in nicely but is not secure. It obviously wont rotate due to the flat side. I am not certain if it needs to be tack welded in place or do I do anything else to keep it in place as you could just push the stud out easily prior to it being attached with the nut on the rim.

If I understand your question correctly the stud is held in place so it can't turn by the square portion at the head of the stud other than that the nut will hold things together. I had a heck of a time getting the old rusted studs out but the new ones just slid in after cleaning out the rust. I am no expert but I just did that job a few months ago to spread my wheels out to make more room for chains between tire and fender. Hope this helps.
