Bent slightly on inside-probably from hitting dead armadillos or going across MS railroad crossings---leaksdown about every 2 weeks..Will assume steel rim--other than tire goop or replacement, what can I do??Actually asking for my son.. On rear and dont shake or anything, so trying to get by with it a little while longer---Thanks

Are you kidding? It is bent. If you want it to hold air get a new rim or put a tube in it.

Hoping u or someone had a magic wand--these are kids-----too long a story to go
into.................................on a yard trailer I'd probably take it off and beat on
it with a hammer and see if I could make it better or worse..Tube in just one tire-will
that make a difference?? shimmy-shake???bounce>?????Prob be best to leave it on the
rear....

To get it fixed $125 Have no details about what kind of rim it is--ita on 2014(guessing yr) Nissan Altima--looked on flebay and rims are just another way car folks steal u blind--anywhere from 3-400 each to 2500 or more each..

Tom;
Tell the boy to take the rim to a auto junk yard, and have it matched.......I would think a rim there, would be about $50-$60!!???????

Just sayin'

Tom,Is it leaking between the bead and the rim? It could have gotten dirt or even a piece of shell,ha ha wedged between the bead and rim.Have beat on the tire edge side wall around the rim with it aired extra pressure to stop slow leaks before, it will work the dirt out of the seal,with out having to break it down and clean it.Or a tube in it or different rim.

It does not take much to bend a rim these days I see them all the time. A local guy straitens them BUT he is not cheap. The aftermarket is staring to offer them (places like Advance Auto) at a good price. Most of the time around what a salvage yard sales there bent rims for. Fix it and fix it right a bent rim will fudge up a good tire BTDT... I use to let a bent rim go if it ballanced out till I started getting those cars back with a slipped belt in the tire that had a bent rim :twisted: A tire can not stand to waller down the road even if you can not feel it you can see it when you spend the tire.

I doubt this will be the last bent rim you see on that car like drivers some are worst than others...

And watch them mount it up on a tire balance and confirm theirs is not bent also. I would say at least haft of the salvage yard rims I see are BENT....

Take it off and lay it flat. Get a soapy water solution and spray the bead area. This should verify leak area. If it's the rim leaking, and it's steel, gradually work up to hitting it harder until you reform it. Spray the stem also.

bent rims happen often around here, what ive found to work i mark all the weights position as well as where the valve stem is in relation to the tire, dismount the tire, use a 2lb hammer to straighten the rim if its not too bad, now dont whale the heck out of it, this takes a little finesse, work from the edges of the damaged area in to the middle,light and steady blows just enough to move the metal, once done remount the tire and before inflating spread a light coat of wheel bearing grease on the tire beads, the grease will fill up any small pinholes left in the seal between the tire and the rim, have the tire balanced as soon as praticle ive saved dozens of rims this way both on farm equipment and cars and trucks

Thanks ASE--I've used the soapy water trick lots of times-had not thought about it on this one for some reason..looks like re-shaping it a little would have to work in most cases..Tks again..
