Finished baling the oats nurse crop yesterday afternoon (still have to pick 'em up and stack in the hay mow).

Nice picture. I love the Boomer by the way. Wish we had them in our area. I have never seen one come up for sale in Southeast Indiana. Probably just as well. I don't need another tractor but I'd likely end up with one. Lol.

I put in about 3 hours last night finish mowing a pasture with my 640. After working all day, it was nice to come home, not have any issues with the tractor and just mow until a storm came in around dark. Nice breeze and great lightning show. It all stayed North of me.

People have all kinds of hobbies
Golf Fishing Swimming Basketball
for me mowing with my 8N or Ferguson TO-30
is relaxing to me
I can go out and mow for hours and forget about
the worlds problems.
my only problem is I run out of grass to cut.

There you go. I was just asked again this morning if I wouldn't be better off with more modern equipment to mow with instead of my 640. My wife has a 54" John Deere F725 and a 60" diesel F935 front deck mower for her part of the mowing. They both have power steering a cushy seat. She wants her part done ASAP. I have the '56 Ford 640 and just added a '40 9N. I'm just riding my tractors pulling my 72" finish mower. I'll get done when I get done. The seat time on the antique/classic tractors is a big part of enjoying our property for me. By the way, Ed's picture makes a great computer background screen.

The old fashioned way. Both my sons are married and on their own, and the cows don't have opposable thumbs to be able to grab the bale twine.

:p

Great looking mowers, nice equipment, always thought those front deck mowers were a great idea,
I have two John Deere mowers, but they are on the other end of the price range, however, they do a good job with little repair and maintenance.

Is that a 273 baler?

My father had one that did well over 500,000 small squares in its day. (estimating...dad did about 25,000-30,000 small squares per year...and he had that 273 from as early as I can remember until when I was about 30).

Good old baler.

My brother currently runs the same farm with a 575. That 575 is a little more cruel. Spitting out a bale every six seconds makes the unloading crew sweat even harder.

Some great looking oat bales to boot.

my dad would hire a few local teenage boys and they would make short work of it. photo from around 1960. me on the left, dad with the hat.
