12V generator

did ford ever put 12V generators on their farm tractors before the age of alternators? if so might someone have a picture of one?

thanks.

The diesels that were introduced in 58 or 59 on the 01 Series were 12v from the factory with a generator. Gassers remained 6v. In 65 all Fords were 12v with a gemerator. Till 76 when they came out with alternators.

thanks fellas. the reason asked is I looked at a Ferguson TO-35 over the past weekend and it had a 12V generator but it looked nothing like a delco gen. (no tag on it either) it looked a lot like this gen.

I have four vehicles here with original 12 volt generators. One of them has the original generator and regulator from 1958. The batteries in them last forever even though these are machines that sit for months at a time. I think a generator is more "gentle" on a battery. I have no way to prove this, but it what I'm sticking with.

I put a delco-remy 12 volt generator and D/R regulator in place of the 6 volt generator, on a 2N, with a hand built adjuster mount. You won't know its a 12 volt unless you looked at the battery. generator flashed to + ground to follow original current flow (center of plug to ground) I then bought a 12 volt to 5 volt reducer and left the original ballast resistor, to keep the points required current flow right. I bought a 5/8" pulley to match the fan belt.
Full choke fires up on first 4 cyclinders-any weather. Points now on 4th year.
I know a member that has a 12 volt D/R and he may pipe up for sale or kipit. got it off a B/S. Mine came off a JD 45 self propelled combine.
