Tranny/ clutch issue

Well Im stumped. Ive been working on a 8n. New clutch and preasure plate installed. Had to repair lower gear shaft. All back together but wont move.
Tractor moves with tranny to rear end.hooked together. As soon as I hook the engine to tranny she wont move. Unless I push in clutch . seems like the clutch preasure plate is holding up the movement of the tractor.
Any ideas as to what my issue is.

Sounds like the transmission is in gear while it is appearing to you to be in neutral.

Dunno what all you had apart, could a shift fork not be properly engaged with a shift collar (or maybe even a shift collar improperly installed), I'm not sure what all else can be mis-assembled when assembling the shift mechanism.

It looks like the shift plates and forks are in the correct position. Plus when I had the tranny out and put back together it turns fine. That is why I believe its in neutral. Could I still have that problem your talking about?

When looking at images on the internet. My collars and forks look correct.
I also removed the nuts holding the shift shafts ball bearings. Just so I could move the collars free from the shift plates.
I looked at gear placement, but they can really only go in one way to line up.
What I needed to do was replace the lower shaft.
Did nothing to top shaft/ gears other than pull them out. Never pulled the reverse gear at all.
I did nothing to the rear end. Looks good.
Replaced the clutch and preasure plate.

I had the tranny bolted to the rear end with what I think is neutral and can watch tranny as Im moving the assembly back and forth.
It seems fine. Un less the gears are not suppose to turn while Im doing this. I would think they should.

Thats where I started and am now
For the most info about whats up.

I may have found the issue. Atleast I think so. It seems one of the lower gears is misaligned with the shift collar. About 1/2 cog off. Why its this way I dont know. But I sure its binding the top gear assembly.
Its still strange to me it will function by itself. Looks like a repeat tear down is in order.
Thx for the info.
