Today was a tilling day for me. I started out with our 2000 diesel all was going well and then my left
side lift arm threads stripped. Well its been a little while since I tilled with the 8n so I decided
why not give it a try. I hooked the 52 up to the 58 inch land pride and away I went, I finished all
the tilling I needed to do and all went well until I got stuck. For many years I tilled with an 8n
using a 44 inch Khronevator tiller, seems the 8n handled the 58 inch land pride just as well. When I
say tilling with an 8n I do not mean breaking sod, I used the tiller mostly for weeding, I prefer it
over my disc.

Do you have a step down Sherman or other auxillary transmission?. I've always understood that an 8N ran too fast to use a roto-tiller. Looks like it is doing a good job.

I'm interested in this too.

Yes there is a big difference between breaking new ground or tilling previously tilled ground. Our 2000 which is our main tilling tractor these days has the 6 speed transmission and 1rst gear is what I use for breaking new ground but for tilling previously tilled ground I often also use 2nd and 3rd. I have tilled shelter belt trees for many years using my 8n and for light cultivation it works very well. No it does not have any step down transmission it has a step up, one day I would like to get a combo for it.

Bingo, Bruce.

Look at the ground and conditions.

Conditions are nearly ideal.

Ns are not suitable for roto-tilling in the real world.
