Not getting fuel - 39 9N

So far, I've rebuilt the carb twice, cleaned the tank and replaced all filters. New spark plugs, distributer, and coil too. She runs like a champ for a while and then acts like she's getting starved for fuel. Then dies. I have to sit for a few minutes and then she'll start and make it another 50 feet before dying again. Any thoughts?

Try cracking your gas cap open a bit. I believe it needs to be vented. I once had a 39' 9n with the same problem. The top of the sediment bowl was full of rust.

As soon as it dies, quickly remove the plug in the carb bowl as Bruce describes in tip 13--
should be steady flow not slow trickle..Let it flow a good couple of minutes or more--
should be steady flow the whole time--catch the gas and u can pour it back in the tank if
it looks good and is trash free...I assume u changed the elbow screen in the carb where the
gas line connects to the carb....If gas flow slows down or stops, crack the gas cap and see
what happens-your vent might be stopped up...

As soon as it dies, check the spark as described.
If the spark is good, check fuel as described.
Do it the other way around and you might have fuel
and/or vapors around for the spark test to ignite.

Since you've been through the carb/fuel system twice,
I would be looking toward an ignition issue.
Possibly points or coil. But that needs to be verified.

This tractor has been converted to 12 volt and has the Pertronix, electronic ignition setup. I've run this Pertronix in both my early Ford Broncos with great success, but reading on here leads me to believe it could be an issue as well. I'm buying a vented cap today and will see if that helps at all. I'm not opposed to going back to points, but just don't know how to set all that up.
