Took to shop 4 weeks ago for deck belts--went to get it Thursday and jsust slight click-engine will not turn over---forgot to connect direct to starter while I was there..connected 50 amp starter/charger and no spin just slight click---jumped across solenoid and same thing..I think if it was a safety switch issue that they might have messed with when removing the deck--don't think it would even click..Battery is good..any thoughts?? Thanks

If it is a remote mounted solenoid and the starter has a Bendix inertia drive:

Run a jumper from the starter to the grounded battery terminal. The shop may have unhooked a ground wire somewhere.

Run a jumper directly from the hot terminal on the battery to the terminal on the starter.

By doing these two things, and the starter still doesn't work, you narrow the problem down to the starter itself.

If the solenoid is mounted on the starter and both energizes the starter and pulls the drive into engagement:

First, did you run a jumper to the starter solenoid terminal that pulls in the contactor? Sometimes there isn't enough current to make it pull in the contactor due to loss through the switch and connectors.

If you jumped the contacter terminal and it still didn't work, I would suspect a bad starter or solenoid. Both can be checked by an electrical shop easily.

Solenoid is mounted by the battery in the under seat compartment...Will tell them to do the jumper wire from the battery to starter--Thanks Jock
