What is this?

Post the link or reduce the size of the photo and post that. You may get free software ( http://www.irfanview.com/ ) that does the image size changes.

(quoted from post at 07:36:37 06/10/16) Picture too big. How do I post it?

For future photo taking I'd suggest that you go into your CAMERA settings and lower your present default image size.

The only reason you need high resolution photographs (like 1MB to 3MB) is if you plan to PRINT the photo. The printer requires tons of pixel information.

But for computer display, the screens themselves are only 72 dpi (dots (pixels) per inch).

Many programs will save you a copy of your photo in a reduced size. For example, there is a program that comes with the MAC operating system called PREVIEW. So when I dub-clik a photo it opens into Preview.

Then I go up to FILE -->SAVE AS

Save As will create a new copy of the photo but keep your original photo (in case you DO want to print it)

A dialogue window opens where I title the photo or leave the same title but add "sm" for small.

Choose the JPEG format and you will be prompted to move a slider to determine what size you want the new copy to be.

Also you have to note in that dialogue window pane, [b:b7bdadf417]where[/b:b7bdadf417] on your computer's hard drive the new picture will go so that you know how to access it when you want to pose it somewhere.

Usually, by default the new small photo will go to the same folder that the original picture was in.
Just so there's a better chance of you getting this . . .

PC users do something that makes me roll my eyes because it complicates computer communication. They commonly call FOLDERS, Files. But from the my Mac user prospective, FILES or documents reside inside File [b:b7bdadf417]FOLDERS[/b:b7bdadf417].

Your pictures are FILES, that reside in FOLDERS, or on your Desktop. Many users clutter up their desktops with files because they can't find them otherwise. But even your desktop has it's own Desktop FOLDER. That's why documents or files have their own distinctive icons and Folders look like typical Folders.

I think it's more like some people are so dumb that you have to use pictures to communicate with them. Some of us PC users have been using Directories and files for 30 years and have no problem knowing which is which. Ever heard of a Sub directory?

If one has to put photo files on their desktop because they can't find them any other way, a simple course in computers would greatly benefit them.

step 1: go to http://tinypic.com

step 2: upload your picture

step 3: paste the link titled "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards" into your post

step 4: tell the next person who has problems posting pics here about it ;)

(quoted from post at 13:09:01 06/10/16) Come on I've tried to postpics its not as easy as you make it sound. Its pain in the a%$#&@.

Well to try to simplify it a little, the picture you want to show has to be on a host site so you can have a web address to get to it much the same as you use yesterdaystractors.com to get to this address.

There are host sites such as Tinypic mentioned above and photobucket that will let you upload a picture to their server. That means that there is a copy of your picture on their site. Then all you need is the correct address to get to it.

You then come on to a forum like this one and make a post. When you want the post to show your picture, you place the address where the picture resides in your post. You use the image code to do this. What you do is post the address of your picture between the image codes like this

(img)picture address here(/img)

This tells the forum to display that picture in your post The real image code uses [ ] instead of ( )

That's the basics of it.

This is just more evidence that there needs to be a sticky at the top of every forum here with simple instructions on how to post pictures. These days there are quite a few free image hosts that are point-and-click to upload your photo and give clear directions on how to link to them once uploaded.

That's true, but in this case he wasn't asking HOW to post a photo but how to [b:a67734cf0a]reduce[/b:a67734cf0a] it's size.

If Randy CAN figure out how to reduce the photo size then here's one way of posting smaller (under a MB) photos. I'm surprised at how large (k size) a photo can actually be here and still upload to the site . . . compared to forums like Old International Trucks for example.

Randy:

[b:a67734cf0a]Photo Uploading[/b:a67734cf0a]

Below where I am typing this to you right now,
You'll see: ADVANCED POSTING TOOLS in a red banner heading.

In the blue colored options there, click:
[b:a67734cf0a]Upload Photo[/b:a67734cf0a] (NOT that Choose File button) lower down that you've probably tried. That method hasn't worked since the site went down a while back.

THEN in new pane that opens --> [b:a67734cf0a]Choose File[/b:a67734cf0a]

THEN ---> [b:a67734cf0a]Upload [/b:a67734cf0a]

THEN if you are satisfied with the visual preview
click the [b:a67734cf0a]CONTINUE[/b:a67734cf0a] button just above the little preview of your photo.

Finally, click the usual big [b:a67734cf0a]SUBMIT[/b:a67734cf0a] button that you normally use to post messages.

Don't worry about filling in all the other [i:a67734cf0a]fields[/i:a67734cf0a] in that pane -- Make, Model, Year etc.-- it isn't necessary to fill those in.

Randy,
This photo is 568K but it doesn't need to be near this large. think of "size" as the number of Kilobytes.

Here is the picture. The part leaning on the building fits on the back of the Ford where the draw bar normally goes. Thanks to everyone who helped me with getting the picture posted.

That's half of the jack to lift the tractor.
The U shaped pieces on the other end fit under the rear axle.
The other half went under the front end and was connected
by a chain to this half. Lift the 3 pt, lift all four wheels.

Randy,

Lucky you!
Many people would like one of them including me. :)
The front frame is waaay easier to make than what you already have. If I had your email address I could send you the PDF plans for the Tractor Jack.

I wonder who actually invented the 3 point Tractor Jack.

My money is on Harry Ferguson.
It wouldn't surprise me to find out that Ferguson had floating rear axles as well as overhead valves and a tilt up hood.

Once you have your photos stored on photobucket or a similar site it's 12 keystrokes to type in the html to hot link it here with your post.
If you can not learn 12 keystrokes you aren't trying very hard.
