front axle pivot bushing

I ordered a new bushing and pin for the front axle of my 49 8n. The bushing I got, part number 2N3039, is a solid bronze/brass bushing, at least it is non-magnetic. The bushing I removed is a split steel bushing. Did I order the wrong part?

Not to restart an old war but should this be drilled for a grease fitting? Bronze can be softer than steel but it also work hardens.

Some people feel it will get dirt mixed in and do more damage . I am on the side that says if it is a work tractor and you keep grease flowing by constantly adding new , it will keep the grit expelled , might just look messy .

Personally I would weld a cap on the back of the pin ( unless you like using the hand crank ) cap the front with a zerk added , and add a few small holes in the pin at 2, 6 , & 10 o'clock .

OK got all the parts, everything is cleaned and painted, and ready to assemble. Are the spacers and shims necessary? I read several threads about using the spacer and shims but I do not understand the purpose. The axle moves forward and back as it rotates so you can not shim it tight. This is a 49 8N.
