I bought a Sherman hi/low transmission a few years ago for my 1944 2N and it was missing a Adapter mounting flange. Is there a place to get one or are they hard to come by???? Thanks

Might be a hard piece to find . John Smith sells parts but did not have one listed .

It would not take much to make one , it is a flat plate with four threaded holes , four counter sunk holes , one large hole in the center . It could probably be just a large rectangle but I would think the thickness would be critical for proper bearing preload .

Maybe someone has one off they could make you a cardboard templet and tell you the correct thickness ?

Thank you for your comment.

I have one but I also have a nice Hi/lo so I won't sell it separately, but I would be quite willing to take the measurements for you is you like.

I understand. I would like to know the measurements, such as thickness, Size of center hole. I am kind of sure I have the holes in the tractor transmission where the front bearing retainer is attached and the back of the Hi/Low. I been thinking about it a lot today and believe I can come up with all the measurements with a surface plate and height gauge measuring the input bearing housing and subtracting the Hi/Low which will be a lot of work. Would be obliged when you have the time to know the thickness.Thank you and good day,

Bac,Just for clarity is it a Sherman step-up/step-down combination transmission,or is it a Sherman Step-up or a
Sherman Step-down?
As a a Sherman hi/low transmission is not a proper description.

If it needs an adapter flange it would not be a step up or a step down .

It is a Sherman (step-up and step-down) combination transmission. Shiftier handle attaches to a square shaft with a 3/8" Allen head bolt into the end of the square shaft.

The online Sherman parts view I believe the part I am looking for is part number 7C286. Unknown what the proper technician name for this part yet. Thank you for the help

Thank you for the help. I ran across a business called Walts tractors and they had them listed. Bought one and later on in the morning I get a email from Phil at Red Rock Mfg saying I already bought one and he was the one that is going drop ship the adapter for the Sherman Combination transmission. Then the old computer video card exited stage right and finally have been able to get back on. Thanks for everyone trying to figure what I was talking about. Till next time have a good one
