Ok I am replacing the head gasket my question is do I use anti seize or cilicone on the threads and what about the head gasket it's self.oh yes this is on a 1951 8n

Kenny........you sure know how to ask questions. Ford changed from studs to head bolts 'cuz you don't haffta remove the hood and gas tank with head bolts. BTW head bolts are approved fer 9N's and 2N's too. Make certain the corner bolt holes are dry. (does Q-tip mean ennythang to you?) Otherwize, you kenn actually hydraulically FRACTURE the corner of the block making it useless. Me? I install the head gasket with fresh coat of spray paint. I start in the center of the head tightening according to the published pattern. ......HTH, the amazed Dell

Kenny, Use one of these Locktite 1158514 Head bolt & Water Jacket sealant is one, Permatex 56521 High Performance Thread Sealant is another good one.Copper Coat spray is good for head gaskets for non perfect block decks and heads.

Copper coat spray is a great idea for the head gasket and I like Locktite 1158514 Head bolt & Water Jacket sealant anytime I'm working with a bolt or stud that is not a blind hole.

Dell the reason I ask this is because someone ciliconed this sh*t out of them and yes the corners are dry. I just picked this 8 up and found the valve keepers for one of the valves had fallen out. So now we are putting in a new valve and keepers. And Thanks for all the in put .
