alt hook up 1950 8n

Putting an alternator on my 1950 8n. I have two wires. One is a large yellow and one is a small white wire. Not sure where they go. saw the yellow on the wiring diagram but don't see the white wire. Advice needed. thanks

Large wire is the charging wire. Where it goes depends upon whether ammeter is still being used.

Small wire is the "excite" wire, typically goes to "idiot light" or diode powered by the switched side of the ignition switch.
 
Large wire is the charge wire and small is the excite wire as
Bob said but don't pay attention to the color of the insulation.
Pay more attention to where they connect.
Not everyone follows the color code.

Where are your alternator brackets connected?
I can't see them in the picture.

it looks like there's no upper mount in that picture. he's got the alternator mounted to the front half of the generator bracket near as i can tell.
 
Went to start the 8n. Battery was dead. CHarged it up, got my volt meter out and I had power to everything with key switch off. After checking with meter I swapped some wires. Now when I turn the switch off it has no power to anything and the amp meter shows charging when running so for now it seems to be all working correctly. thanks for the input.
