Haven't actually seen it but we have one nosing around. Tore up some bee hives about 1/4 mile away and a couple of big ant hills on my place. DNR has said it a pest and if up around a home can be shot. That's kinda bad around here cause some clown will go looking for it, shoot it, drag it home and claim it was near their house. ME? As long as it isn't a threat to my grandkids it's safe.

dang bears, think they own the place..lol
Crash!...darn it, I forgot to clean the grill again.
Just run them off when you see them. They'll decide you are anti-social and will mostly stay away...mostly.
In the area of my camp, with lots of bears, the lifetime permanent residents consider them a pest. About the same as we would a woodchuck.
Lady up the hill from me at camp flies out her door banging pots together and yelling, and runs them out of her yard. Pretty funny actually.

I never saw any reason for killing everything that came around the place. If you run them off even if a couple of times they won't be back, usually. If they aren't causing any damage or problems, live and let live. We had foxes in the pasture fields with the llamas. I went out with the gun to get them, turns out all they were doing was hunting voles in the field and the llamas could care less that they were there. Have fun foxes. We have a possum roaming around, ugly, yes, sometimes eats the barn cat's food, but it doesn't hurt anything. Groundhogs, however, get no pass from me... dead if I can get a shot at them. There as some idiots (and yes, I'll call you an idiot) that want to shoot even any dog or cat that comes around, catch 'em and call animal control if you don't want them. You might be killing some child's pet that escaped. Would that make you feel like a real man?
