Hard/No Start Condition

I have a 2N that has been converted to 12 volts. It has the original ballast resistor, plus the Chrysler droppoing resistor. From time to time either from a cold start or if it cuts out while using it it refuses to start. When this has happend I have checked for gas, and replaced the plugs with no luck. It even appears to get spark. Turns over fine but no start. It also has a new battery with good clean connections. What I havehad to do to start it is jumper around the Chrysler dropping resistor and then it starts right up. Once it starts I remove the jumper wire and it continus to run great. Any ideas of what is happening and a cure?
Thanks,
Bill

If you use an adjustable gap spark checker, you will see that you have a weak spark. You have a weak spark because you have too much resistance in the ignition circuit.

Get a 12 volt coil and remove the "Chrysler " resistor.
