Pat's Quick Hitch Revisited

Pat's quick hitch guys sent me the correct longer pins that can facilitate the use of stabilizer bars at no charge. I got the hitches installed yesterday as you can see in the pics below.

The first pic is a side view showing the longer pins and the stabilizer bar hooked to it. The second pic shows the lock in the locked position.

The third pic shows how the locks can be held in the unlocked position. As you can see, you can back into the implement with the hitches below the pins. The higher portions of the casting above the hook can actually be used as a bumper. Even if you back up to the implement a little crooked you can the tap those bumpers a little against the pins to straighten out the implement then just raise your lift arms to cradle the pin.

The last pic shows the adjustable spreader that hooks into holes in the pins. This lets you set the correct width between your lift arms before backing up to your implement. Of course you can mark the spreader so you can set it right for each implement.

I haven't actually done any mowing with it yet. I'm just hoping everything stays tight and remains like I have it set now. I have high hopes.

By the way the hitches are on my 8N.

Forgot one thing. The quick hitches move my mower about 4 inches further back on my tractor. This was good because I didn't like how my drive shaft hooked up. With the mower sitting on the ground I only had about three eighths of an inch of free space to get the front of the "U" joint on the ORC. Just the amount that the shaft slid onto the ORC and that 3/8" was all the free space I had in the shaft.

I always worried because there wasn't much free space between the sliding forward part of the shaft and the back shaft with the slip clutch on it. Now I have another 4 inches of slide in there.

Caryc,Your Pats quick hitch looks good It kinda reminds me of a JI Case eagle hitch.Just one question though, what is the plated chain hooked to the bracket on the front of the mower then attached to the tractor in the last pic for?I don't see a purpose for it.

Those (one on each side) are my limiter chains. There wasn't room on the quick hitch pins to hook them there so I moved them to those mower bolts.

You set the limiter chains so that the mower will hang at the height you want. Of course my 8N has position control but I like the idea of the limiter chains so I just lower the three point and it's not working to keep the mower at a selected height anymore.
