52 8n no spark

I have a 52 8n with a sidemount distributor that has no spark at the plugs. It was running fine when I parked it for a few days but now has no spark. I have power to the stud and to the points.

You should have power to the coil points open and not when closed.
If that is what you see then I would check for spark on the coil
wire. If you have spark there check the rotor and distributor cap.

If power at the stud doesn't go away when the points are closed
then the points aren't closing or aren't making good contact.

"Everything checks out as it should"

Spark at the coil wire, distributor nipples and thru the plug wires?

Into the coil, out of the coil to the stud, and to the points. When the points are closed nothing at the stud. Cap and rotor look good but still nothing at plugs. Will check again tomorrow. Is there anything I'm missing I should be checking?

I understand that you have power to and through the coil.
What I meant was actual spark on the high voltage lead from
the coil that plugs into the center of the distributor cap.
You can check it with a spark plug tester just like the plug wires.
Can also check at the cap nipples, then at the ends of the wires.

As a basic yes/no test a plug will work.
Could also hold the wire 1/4 inch away from a good ground.
Use an insulated tool or a leather glove if you go that route.

And I'm assuming if there is nothing the coil is bad? If so its brand new is that common to get bad coils? Ran fine then started to get fought and backfire last it ran I assumed it was the carb or something

If there's nothing I'd double check that the points are actually
opening and closing. Both mechanically and electrically.
You can use a test light like soundguy suggested.
It is not common for a round can coil to fail, but they do fail.

I did recheck the points and could see them opening and closing visible. I also checked with a voltage light and could see when they opened and closed.
