Didn't need it but the price was right and starts every time. Pretty much stock all way around except the two different size rear tires, will take care of that when the next 12.4-28 comes into a deal. Hardly no leaks an everything works like it should. Gonna do away with the fuel filter setup, just don't think that's very safe. Here's some pics...the last one is my helper, can't go nowhere without him!

Not a bad looking rig, great looking dog!
What's your general location? Maybe someone here has a tire.

SW Indiana around Evansville, Owensboro Ky area. Thx, it's a pretty solid old tractor. Everything functions fine absolutely no play in the steering....amazes me as to how some of these old tractors still remain in fairly good shape. Fellow I got this from has had it for the last 30 yrs and kept it out of the weather when not in use. Would like to find someone that is interested in trading tires, the larger one is a 13.6-28. Need a 12.4-28 as the other one is a Chinese knock off but is like new. Tread is fairly decent on the 13.6, w/no dry rot at all.

Old "slugger" have had him since he was 6wks old, now he's almost 11. Best dog I've ever had, he's goes everywhere with me....won't settle for less. Dogs....you can't beat em, truly mans best friend!

The tread on your 12.4 looks similar to this Harvest King I have.

You interested in parting with it? I know shipping will be a bear but if the price is right I might be able to compensate for it. That looks identical as to what I have, as in tread wise. Harvest King is import isn't it?

I'd part with it, I don't have a mate for it.
Might even trade straight up but I don't know about shipping.
I'm in Michigan about 450 miles from you but I have relatives
in Greencastle, so maybe we could figure out a place to meet.
The tractor show in Winamac is July 14-17 this year.
That might work.

Greencastle looks doable. I'd have to breakdown the 13.6 due to needing the rim. Mail coming to you.

I don't see a thang wrong with that filter... Most install a filter because they have contaminated fuel are a bad rusty tank...
Look in the tank if its not clean and rust free the tank needs replaced then you can do away with the filter...

If you have read post from filter hatters that don't understand good clean fuel can not be beat and make up every excuse they can dream up then by all means remove that filter....

Filters are added to clean up the contamination get rid of the contamination and you can shed yourself of the filter...

Good clean fuel can not be beat even if you have to filter it...

So in other words you don't think that manifold heat could pose a problem? I like the idea of the secondary filter but a ruptured line....that's a whole new disaster there.

(quoted from post at 21:32:07 05/25/16) A good ole "N" and a good ole dog makes for a happy man.

Yes sir....couldn't of said it any better! I've got him to where he bring me shop towels when in the shop. Got a cardboard box at his level and he just sticks his mouth in there an digs me one out. Usually it's 4-5 of them at a time but he still does it. And never complains!!

No I don't but I would like to know why it's there... If you have a supply of good clean fuel you don't need it...

My point...folks miss the point its there for a reason find it then you will know the direction you need to focus on...

Good looking 2n.

There is nothing wrong with an inline fuel filter. I would place the filter under the fuel tank away from the mainfold. Paper
filter will catch more fine rust than the brass screens.

I have an SC Case. last year I replaced the strainer and added a screen inside the tank. I still get rust in the sediment bowl
because the rust is so fine it passes though the brass screen. The rust will not pass through the paper filter. I bet 60% of the
gas tractors around here have inline filters added.

"I still get rust in the sediment bowl because the rust is so fine it passes though the brass screen."

I think that is the whole point. There shouldn't be rust in the tank.
Therefore no need for an inline filter.
A N will boil the gas in the gas tank when worked hard.
I won't have a plastic fuel filter anywhere near one.

Although burnt tractors do make for interesting projects! LOL
Last year's project - Crispy

I do see a starter switch has been added on the dash, You might want to see if the safety feature still works!! It may start in gear and hurt someone!!

My Grandpa once boiled the gas in his 9n. And nobody will believe me! Nobody at all! The all say it will blow up. it very well may have if it had a inline filter
though. As soon as I see one on a tractor of mine it's getting ripped outa there.

I don't use the cheap plastic filters. The sun will wreck a
plastic filter in about two years. For five bucks you can get
metal filters. I don't put the filter near the manifold. I put
them under the tank where they cause no harm.

In a perfect world you wouldn't have rust in your fuel tank. The
world isn't perfect and most tanks have rust. You can take the
tank off. Flush it and coat the inside. But it only takes one
idiot with a dirty/rusty gas can and you are right back where you
started.
I put filters on all the tractors I do carburetor work on. Some
customers budgets are too tight to spend time removing all the tin
to gain access to the fuel tank. Specially if it's a two cylinder
Deere. You know the customer is going to keep using that rusty
five gallon can. A five dollar filter is the solution.

Even my 1/12 scale Danbury Mint Case SC toy has a filter. I find
that funny.

I have seen the gas boil in 8n's. None of them blew up. Even the ones with filters didn't blow up. Having a filter will not cause an explosion. Fuel leaks from bad sediment gaskets or leaking flare nut fittings has caused more fires than filters.

Hundred series tractors with bad mufflers blowing heat on the fuel tank have caused a lot of fires.
