Transmission-hydraulics leak

Sweet Polly

Hi all! I recently repaired the brakes and installed SureSeal. Upon refilling with fluid I discovered a leak below where the clutch is. It is the diameter of a small cap screw. Did something fall out? It didn't leak before. (Scratches head) Thanks for helpful reply.

Most likely it is a leaking seal on the
front of the transmission.
Requires you to split the tractor in half to
fix it. Depending on how bad it leaks you
can fix it or live with it.

Thanks! I plugged it last night because it was running as steady stream. Guess I'll take the plug out and try something else! So far the clutch still works. (Whew!) I was afraid it was something like that! She is getting stripped today getting ready for paint...

Sweet Polly,There should be a cotter key in that hole, its purpose is to keep that hole open so as to drip out any fluids that leak past the rear main or the front transmission seal.If it is leaking now after you have added fluid to the transmission fill, you might try draining the fluid level down to the lower bolt on the dipstick inspection cover to see if that helps your leak,it will be a little bit low but that will be fine.Repairing the leak would mean splitting the tractor at the clutch housing and replacing the front transmission seal.

Don't need to plug it-put a bucket under it and let it drain..If it gets on the clutch, you WILL split it-I had a leaking transmission input shaft seal-did not know it till I nosed the tractor into a low spot to keep from draining it(was going to pull PTO shaft)-anyway-soaked the clutch and it was positive lockup-no clutch--let it drain for 2-3 days but still no clutch--split it with no help-replaced clutch, pressure plate, shaft seal, throw out bearing and flywheel ring gear(mine was chewed up bad---Good luck-have fun

Well, I DON'T like it, but it looks like I'll be doin' it anyway. Sweet Polly needs more attention I guess, so she'll get a better goin' through than I expected. Advice on what else to do while I gots her apart? I plan to go through the hydraulics since that doesn't work. (She's been my loader tractor since I got her.)

And Tom, that is exactly what I did! I am Blessed, however, that the I didn't lose my clutch through my "good intentions".
